 Personal Reaction

When I first saw Column I, I laughed. At first glance, it just seems like a strange, tall object standing in the middle of nowhere. But once you take a second look, it begins to take on a majestic stance. Column I is about 2 feet wide and 20 feet tall. It is made out of stainless steel. The way the light falls on it makes the sculpture look even more sharp and sliced. Column I seems to stand up against the sky. It is strong, with no negative space in it. This sculpture is sharp, like a knife. It gives off a sense of wonder and strength.
