The Virtual Stanford Sculpture Tour Website Project

The purpose of this website is to present a virtual field trip of the outdoor sculpture collection on the Stanford University campus. For some people this will simply be an introduction and opportunity to find out what kinds of sculptures are available to be seen prior to a visit. For others it will be an opportunity to learn how to analyze sculpture and to discover how students have reacted upon viewing the sculptures themselves.

It should be noted that most of the sculptures are not photographed because they are not considered public art. Only photos of the Rodin collection can be posted in a public forum such as the world wide web. However the drawings on these pages that are created by middle school students give a very good impression of the original sculptures.

After visiting this site students should have a better understanding of the study of sculpture and be better prepared to evaluate and reflect when viewing sculpture in the future.
