| There
are complimentary colors in this painting. The yellow of the sun or star
that is at the top right hand corner of the painting is complimentary with
the sky around it. The emphasis of the painting is the sun or star. It
draws my attention because it is the brightest object in the painting.
My eye moves around the painting in the following way. First, I look at
the star. Then, my eye skims the top of the mountains or wind that go across
the painting. Next, my eye looks at the tree on the left side of the painting
before finally looking at the ground. Even though the sun or star is the
brightest object in the painting, the painting is still balanced. There
are other stars on the left side of the painting, which evens out the emphasis
so that the main sun/star is not overpowering. "Starry Starry Night" is
painted in the style of expressionism; I can tell this because I am unsure
of exactly what the bright object in the top right-hand corner is.
There are lines in this painting even though they are not so noticeable. If you look closely, the wind or mountains that go across the painting are really horizontal lines. "Starry Starry Night" is very similar to "Wheat and Cypresses". First of all, they both have a scraggly tree in the painting. Second of all, even though the skies in the paintings are at different times of day, they are still very similar. Both skies flow; they have soft curves and are very subtle. Last of all, they both create a happy and peaceful feeling because of their tranquil qualities. All in all, this painting is a masterpiece that will be remembered forever in the art world. Home | The
