Nighthawks by Edward Hopper is a very interesting piece because of the way Hopper illustrates his sadness during the Depression. The dark colors of the neighborhood and the welcoming colors inside the restaurant make you feel like you want to be in the picture. There are also a lot of geometric shapes and your eye moves around from the inside of the restaurant to the scary neighborhood. Also there is negative space in the back shops and the street outside.
