Beryl Cook's "Come Dancing" is a comical rendition of a dance competition. The painting is balanced but the emphasis of the painting are the animals dancing. The colors of the pigs contrast with their clothes and draw your attention to this piece of art. The repetition of the black in the tuxedos and the judges helps to balance the picture. The movement dances from the middle to the outside. First, you look at the dancers and then at the judges. The contrasting colors are the bright clothes of the dancers, the dark clothes of the judges, and the background is dark so the dancers stand out. There is a line going from the dancer’s path to the judges, so you first see the dancers because they are the main image. We like to dance so this picture drew us to it and made us imagine dancing with pigs…. HOW WEIRD! |
