Abstract
Form Sculpture |
|
In this lesson we study the art of Henry Moore, Joan Miro, Louise Nevelson, and several other artists whose work concentrated on the use of abstract form. The project activity involves creating a form using flexible wire which is fastened to a wooden base. After the student creates an interesting form by bending and looping the wire, a nylon stocking is stretched over the wire and over the base. The stocking is then coated with a glue and water mixture, allowed to dry, and then painted with multiple coats of tempera paint in a design of the student's choosing.
