Shoe
Clay shoes are another big favorite in Art 1A. This is a complex, involved project. Students learn the basics of clay slab and coil construction as they undertake making a replica of a shoe. Students study their shoes closely, including a 2-day intensive drawing session in which they carefully examine their shoe and draw it in detail from multiple perspectives. Then they construct the shoe and after it is bisque fired they apply glazes, and it is fired again to create the finished piece.
