Classroom Information
The sixth
grade core program consists of four to five periods of academic instruction
daily. All students on our team have Keith Rocha for language arts
and social studies, and Salma Kandil for math and science.

Homework
Students will
have homework every night, Monday through Thursday. On average,
they should expect to work one to one and a half-hour each night, depending
on the nature
of the assignments. Projects may require effort on the weekends. We encourage
you to use the Jordan On-line In Class to help your child keep up with all
assignments and check on grades.
Grades will be updated twice a quarter.
Help with Homework
If students need help with homework, the first place they should come is to Mr. Rocha or Ms. Kandil during brunch or TEAM time. In addition, Jordan Middle School also offers several after- school help centers that sixth graders may find valuable.
* The
Homework Center is a place for students to work and get help on assignments
and is staffed by Jordan teachers and volunteer tutors from the community.
It is held in the library from 3:00-4:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and
Thursdays.
Absence Policy
If a child has an excused absence, IT IS HIS/HER RESPONSIBILITY TO FIND OUT WHAT ASSIGNMENTS WERE GIVEN DURING THE PERIOD OF THE ABSENCE. Students must attend T.E.A.M. to speak with their teachers when they return to school. Checking InClass or calling a study buddy for help might be helpful. Students are given the same number of school days they were absent to make up their work. If student is absent on the day of a test, a make-up time must be scheduled immediately.
